Hundreds of SOAS alumni, staff, students and friends of the School took a stand to support displaced people - will you join them?
In January 2017, SOAS announced six undergraduate and one postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarships for displaced people, who cannot access student finance. These scholarships cover tuition fees; however they do not cover living costs.
Studying in London is very expensive and these students are denied the right to work and are unable to access public funds.
The student community, in particular the SOAS Solidarity with Refugees and Displaced People Society, and the SOAS Alumni team have been working to raise the £250,000 needed to support all seven scholars throughout their studies.
In February of this year we ran a crowdfunding campaign and raised an incredible £160,000 thanks to the generosity of SOAS alumni, staff and students. However we still have a way to go.
We need your support to raise an additional £90,000 to support all seven scholars.
